Say "Yes!"

One week ago, I got an email from my professor telling me that he had an opportunity for me.

I just thought it would be something small, like a visit with a local PR firm. Well, I was way off. He invited me to join 14 other Public Relations students to attend the national conference for Public Relations students across the U.S.

I was speechless. I had been waiting for something to tell me that I was worth it. This was the moment.

This isn't just a post about me bragging, I promise. There is a reason I'm telling this story.

Say "yes" to opportunities. This is a very extreme example, but I'm glad I said "yes."

Although I was nervous and I felt like my hands were going to fall off, I made it to Atlanta, the home of the conference. I have already made connections with the other students on the trip.

I'm happy. This is my time to do something I'm passionate about. Do something once a day that scares you.

A Feminist Post by an Anti-Feminist

DISCLAIMER: I don't see anything wrong with being a feminist. I believe that everyone is entitled to what they believe in, whether it is for or against something.

On that note, here's my rant:

The other day I was talking to a group of guys at my apartment complex. I mentioned that I really wanted to get a massage because my arms were so sore from my last bi & tri workout. One of the guys laughed at me, and said "Gee, if I were to say that I would sound like a tool, but you're a cute girl so it's fine."

I laughed and looked at him and told him that he had no clue what that was like. I went on to give the example: Guys who date a lot of girls are players. They are worshiped. Their buddies high five them when they hear the stories. On the other hand: Girls who date a lot of guys are sluts. They are frowned upon. They are slut shamed.

Why is it okay for a guy to date multiple girls, but it's not okay for a girl to date multiple guys? It's a sick schema that society fills.

Just let that sink in next time you call a girl a slut for dating around.

Resolution: Calling someone a slut isn't going to make you any better of a person. High-fiving a player doesn't really mean much, either.
