Have a diet, don't diet.

Diets aren't always a good thing. ESPECIALLY crash diets. There are good diets (eating healthy foods and exercising) and there are bad diets (not eating anything, crash diets, etc.)

If you aren't eating anything at all because you think you are losing weight easier that way, it is only going to come back to haunt you. Sure, you slim down a lot. But, the body rects to the loss of nutrients and you start to lose the muscle in your body. The body does this on it's own because it isn't sure when the next time you are going to feed it. It can also go the other way, where if you don't eat then the body just holds on to the fat because like I said before, the body doesn't know when it is going to be replenished.

If you do a cleanse, it can be a good thing. But if you cleanse one week, don't go back to eating bad foods, because you will gain most of the lost weight back. If your cleanse, push the body back into "normal" healthy foods instead of having the mentality of thinking "Oh I lost 5 pounds last week, I'll have a burger, fries, and a shake."

Please do not do a crash diet. Your body deserves so much more. You can obtain a healthy body (and mind) by exercising a little at least 3 days a week and eating healthy at least 80% of the time. I still indulge in cookies or ice cream at least once or twice a week, but I just workout that much harder.

This is just my opinion that I have seen and have experienced, it could be different for you.

Be healthy, live better.

Cucumber Lemon Water

So many people see me drinking cucumber lemon water and they are always so weirded out. They always skeptically ask me "Are those cucumbers?" It's like I'm from another planet...anywayssss...

I have been OBSESSED with Cucumber Lemon water. Not only does it detox your body, but it is also really, really yummy.

Cucumbers help rehydrate you and reverse inflammation.

Lemons help cleanse the body by helping digestion and it also boosts the immune system.

I use about half of a normal size cucumber and about half of a lemon.
Some people who make this also like adding mint, but I don't really see the difference. You might though!

When putting all of it together I usually do a layer of ice, a layer of lemon, another layer of ice, and then cucumbers. It doesn't matter much, you'll find your style!

Other Variation: Although I usually just enjoy this with regular water, it is also really good with sparkling water

This water can last a couple days actually. When it runs out of water, I just replace it. It's a gift that keeps giving...for at least two days ;) It is like a part of a spa that you can have at home. :)

Vegetti (LOL)

Vegetti

Okay, this is the coolest thing ever. My aunt and uncle saw this in the "As Seen On TV" section, they bought it because it was funny, but they found it to be very useful. It makes vegetables into noodles. And they are AWESOME. It is so quick and easy!

You can do it to cucumber or zucchini, and I'm sure more!

Here is what I made tonight: Zucchini pasta with Pesto and rotisserie chicken. Yum. Recipe to come soon!

This is not an ad. Just something awesome.

This is where I got mine: Amazon

SUPER EASY tilapia

Super Easy Tilapia

This is by far my favorite and easiest tilapia recipe. It is seasoned with lemon pepper, but you can replace lemon pepper with any other spice you wish. My momma taught me this. :)

Ingredients:
1 Frozen Tilapia Filet (DO NOT THAW)
Olive oil
Pam
Lemon Pepper (can be substituted with garlic pepper, salt and pepper, etc.)

Steps:

1. I buy a big bag of frozen tilapia from Costco. It's super awesome. I'm usually scared of frozen fish, but this is awesome! Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

And they are individually packaged like so:

2. Lay tin foil on pan and spray with Pam.

3. Lather FROZEN Tilapia with about one tablespoon of olive oil (just enough to cover the fish.

4. Sprinkle fish with Lemon Pepper (or whatever you like), be generous with it!

5. Pop in the oven for 30-35 minutes. Take out and enjoy!

I pair mine with Rice and higher intense workout days.

Makeup Wipes

In life, there are things your should splurge on and some things you shouldn't. I used to always think that Mac had the best makeup wipes (I'm a firm Mac supporter). BUT, in my opinion the best (or just as good) makeup wipes are Neutrogena. You can get a huge box of them for cheaper than one package of Mac wipes. But trust me, Neutrogena is just as good, if not better. (Even Celebs use these)...

Hello Twentysomething!

My name is Brooke Jorgensen. I am a Junior at Utah Valley University. I am obsessed with smiles, Disney, makeup, cupcakes, sports, hiking, working out, the ocean, and cooking.

Two days ago, I turned 20 something. I really thought this day wold never come. But here it is. What makes being 20 so special? What is so great about it? What will I need to know and do to get through the best 10 years of my life? I know I will face challenges. I know I'll make a Pinterest inspired recipe and it will totally suck. I know I'm going to date around and date some losers. I know that I will have 10 years of random thoughts and awkward stories. I know I'll buy products that are like liquid gold, but I also know I am going to buy some products that are Satan's gift to the world.

Here's to my Twentysomethings.
